Di SMA Ginyuri, terdapat seorang cowok bernama Asuka Masamune, cowok yang katanya paling jantan, yang paling jago kendo di sekolah itu. Tapi siapa sangka ternyata di balik semua kemaskulinannya itu, Asuka adalah seorang Otomen!!!!
Emang apaan sih Otomen?
Yang namanya cewek itu suka banget sama sesuatu yang manis, berkilauan dan indah, juga kisah cinta yang mendebarkan hati. Tapi cowok pun adakalanya menyukainya. Kadar seorang cowok menyukai hal-hal tersebut emang berbeda-beda, namun untuk yang lebih dari biasanya, bisa kita sebut Otomen.
Asuka adalah seorang Otomen. Dia suka masak, menjahit, bahkan penggemar komik shoujo/komik cewek! Waktu masih kecil ayah Asuka tiba-tiba berkata pada ibunya bahwa mereka tidak bisa bersama lagi karena ayah Asuka berniat menjadi perempuan (!!!). Gara-gara itu, ibu Asuka pun trauma, dan selalu menekankan Asuka untuk jadi seorang cowok sejati. Karena alasan itulah selama ini Asuka berusaha menyembunyikan jati dirinya yang otomen itu dengan bersikap maskulin.
Tapi masalah datang ketika dia menyelamatkan seorang cewek yang lagi digangguin sama sekelompok cowok. Cewek itu bernama Ryou Miyakazuka, seorang murid pindahan di SMA Ginyuri, dan langsung Asuka jatuh cinta ama tuh cewek! Dan Ryou jelas-jelas jenis cewek yang bertolak belakang dengan Asuka: gak bisa masak, gak bisa jahit, gak bisa bikin bento, atau girly things lainnya.
Di tengah-tengah situasi yang mendebarkan dengan datangnya cinta itu, bisakah Asuka menahan getar hati gadis dalam dirinya yang selama ini tetap dipendam? Belum lagi kehadiran Juuta Tachibana, seorang playboy, teman Asuka yang mengetahui jati diri Asuka itu. Tapi diam-diam, si Juuta ternyata seorang Otomen juga, dan tanpa sepengetahuan Asuka, Juuta ini ceritanya adalah mangaka/komikusnya serial "Love Thick", manga shoujo yang selama ini sangat digemari si Asuka!!!

Otomen (オトメン(乙男) ) is the latest work by mangaka Aya Kanno, running in Bessatsu Hana to Yume since late 2006. Although it is a fairly new serial, it has gotten quite popular scoring high on Tohan and Oricon's weekly comic charts.
Asuka Masamune- the coolest, manliest guy in his whole school. He excels in judo, karate and he's the captain of the kendo team and he's even the best player in the country... but he has a secret: The things he really loves are sweets, cute things, cooking, shōjo manga and sewing. He hides this part of his life from everyone else but then he meets a girl named Ryo Miyakozuka...Characters
- Asuka Masamune (正宗 飛鳥 ,Masamune Asuka)
- The main character of the story. He's very tall, masculine and cool but secretly, he loves all things cute, sweet, and lovely. This, however, does not stop him from being necessarily tough on occasion- he can defend himself and his friends. When Asuka was young his father left his family because he wanted to become a woman. This affected Asuka's mother severely and when she saw that her son was starting to like girly things she forced him to be masculine. Asuka also clearly states that while he likes girly things, he does not want to become a woman. When a new girl in school, Ryo Miyakozuka, is being bullied he defends her and later falls in love with her. Among his talents, besides sports, are cooking and sewing. He also enjoys reading the fictional manga "Love Chick" which runs in "Hana to Mame"- a play of words on the actual manga magazine Hana to Yume- the sister magazine in which Otomen runs.
- Ryo Miyakozuka (都塚 りょう ,Miyakozuka Ryō)
- Ryo is a new transfer student at Asuka's school. She lives with her father who is a very tough police officer. Even though she is a girl, she cannot sew, cook, bake, make bento or do any other "girly" things with which Asuka helps her. She also likes fighting movies.
- Juta Tachibana (橘 充太 ,Tachibana Jūta)
- A playboy who befriends Asuka and Ryo, and helps Asuka with his relationship with Ryo. Tachibana is actually the mangaka, penname Jewel Sachihana, of Asuka's favorite manga "Love Chick".
Love Chick
"Love Chick" is a shōjo manga that runs in the fictional manga magazine "Hana to Mame", authored by Jewel Sachihana.
It parallels the personalities and relationship between Asuka and Ryou, with the characters even sharing the same name pronunciation. The major difference being that Love Tick(Lovetic)'s Asuka is written in katakana rather than the actual kanji that is used for Asuka's name and Ryou's name is assigned a kanji character rather than her actual hiragana name. Another difference is that the genders were flipped.
The original title in the Japanese version is らぶちっく （rabuchikku) which fan scanlations romanized as "Lovetic." In the official Viz translation it is romanized as "Love Chick."
